Using the tech board instead of bins, clip boards, or any other manual system will allow you to see at a glance what jobs your techs are working on, and plan their weekly and daily workloads.
When you use the board correctly, you can see how many hours are left for any tech and plan your future scheduling accordingly. If a part gets delayed, you can rearrange the priority of work/jobs to do next along with checking if any techs are struggling with hours. This will help with maximizing your technicians' efficiency.
The Tech Board is a tool used to allow shop owners and managers to identify which technician jobs should be dispatched to based upon their workload. This article will review the following processes:

Permissions for the Tech Board
- In order to view the Tech Board, employees need to have the Job Board Permission turned on in their employee permissions.
- In order to configure the Tech Board, you must have the Shop Settings Permission turned on inside of your employee permissions.
Configuring your Tech Board
- Click the gear icon in the top right corner of the tech board to configure your tech board columns, you will then find a list of all of the employees that can perform work.
- You can re-order the employees by dragging and dropping the names in the list.
- You can can select which employees you want to be displayed n on the Tech Board by clicking the checkbox under "show". Note: If an employee has been assigned to an active RO and is not checked off, Tekmetric will highlight their name in yellow.
Note: In order to configure the Tech Board, you must have the shop settings permission turned on inside of your employee permissions.

Navigating the Tech Board
- You can search the Tech Board by customer name, RO number, or vehicle.
- You can filter the Tech Board by the Appointment type or by Service Writer.
- Any unassigned jobs will appear in the Unassigned Jobs Column.

Navigating Columns within the Tech Board
Within each column you will find the following:
- Assigned Hours: total amount of hours that have been assigned to this technician.
- Completed Hours: this is the total hours the technician has completed of the assigned hours.
- Incomplete Hours: this is the total hours that the technician still has incomplete of the assigned hours and are currently being worked on.
- The wrench on each RO identifies how many jobs are on that particular RO.

Dispatching Jobs on the Tech Board
- You can identify how many jobs are on each RO by viewing the wrench tool.
- If you click the drop down you will see the number of hours within that RO and the job details.
- If you hover over each individual job you will then have the ability to assign a technician.
