In Tekmetric, you can build pre-defined jobs, known as canned jobs, to help with your service writer's speed when building an estimate. In this article, we're going to review how you can build a smart canned job for front or rear brake services.
A smart canned job is a pre-saved job that includes labor and parts associated with the service being done. Update Existing Brake Canned Job to a Smart One
NOTE: If you have an existing smart canned job for brakes prior to these enhancements, please delete it and build a new canned job using the new smart job available in order for it to work properly!
Navigate to your existing front or rear brake canned job in Tekmetric, and click the edit pencil on the job table.
Once your job is in edit mode, select the Brake option listed under smart jobs:

You will then select the smart lines you're wanting to add, and whether it is for a front or rear brake service.

Once you select your options and click add, the smart lines will be added to your canned job. From here, you will then delete the old placeholder lines that you no longer want.
In this example, I am going to keep my own standard labor hours, so I will delete the smart labor lines; however, I want the parts to be smart, so I will delete my old placeholder parts.

Once you're done editing, go ahead and save your canned job. Now your canned job is smart and ready to be used on an estimate!

Build a Smart Canned Job for Brakes
Navigate to your canned jobs section on the left menu, and click New Canned Job, then select Smart Canned Job.
In the set up wizard, select the Brake option, then select Continue. Here, you will select the smart brake options available, and whether you want to build the job for rear or front brake services.

Afterward, you will set up your job title, job category, and labor rate. You will then adjust your labor lines as needed. If there are multiple smart labor lines, it'll ask you to adjust each.

Once you're done editing, you can review it at it's final stage and make final adjustments prior to saving:

Once you save, your smart canned job is ready to be used on the estimates!
