A picture speaks a thousand words, and we know that being able to give a visual explanation to the customer will increase the probability of getting the job approved and sold. With digital vehicle inspections, you can write a story using pictures and explanations on what vehicle issues were found. This will reduce confusion and frustration when your customers review the quoted estimate because they were able to visualize and see proof of the problem. Not only will your customer have a better understanding, but they will also have more trust in you and your shop.
When looking at our data provided from shops, it was found that 8 or more images were sent to the customer with a digital inspection and that sales increased by 17%. Digital vehicle inspections help build customer trust, facilitate better communication, and build value.
Tekmetric offers the ability to create and configure your own custom digital inspections. Follow the instructions below on how to create an inspection.
Create an Inspection
- Click the Inspections section on the left menu bar.
- Click the blue New Inspection button in the top right corner.
- Once inside the new inspection, you can add the following:
-
Inspection Title - This is the name that will appear in the list when adding inspections to an RO.
-
Inspection Groups - Each Inspection requires a minimum of one inspection group; however, you can organize an inspection into as many inspection groups as you'd like. To add a new group click the Add New Group button on the bottom of the table. You can also re-order the inspection groups by clicking the drag & drop icon (3 horizontal lines), and drag & drop into the desired order.
-
Example 1 - you could choose to have one general inspection group comprised of all the inspection tasks.
-
Example 2 - you could break out an inspection into various groups such as Exterior, Interior, Brakes, Fluids, Under Vehicle, Steering & Suspension, etc.
-
Inspection Tasks - Within the inspection group(s), you can add as many tasks as needed.
-
Findings - There are two areas where you can setup findings.
-
General Findings: On the top of the Edit Inspection table, there is a second tab titled Findings. Here, you can add preset general findings to appear in the drop down menu for any tasks that you do not have any specific findings set up for.
-
Task Specific Findings: Within a task line, you can setup specific findings that relate to the task at hand. This is useful if you'd like your technician to go into details around what they find. For example, your brake pads will never "Leak," but they will be "Worn."
- Having preset findings does not limit you from manually entering a custom finding while performing an inspection.
- Click the blue Save Inspection button in the bottom right or the floppy disk save icon in the top right corner of the inspection table.
- In the screenshots below, you can see how the inspection looks in edit mode and how that translates to what the inspection looks like when performing the inspection on a repair order.
Associate Canned Jobs to Inspections
You have the ability to tie canned jobs to DVI findings to increase the efficiency in which your service writers can build estimates by automatically adding canned jobs tied to inspections once the assigned technician marks the DVI complete.
